What are Total Care Wellness Packages?

The best way to keep your pet healthy and happy over a lifetime is to have regular check-ups, diagnostic screenings, and immunizations. Total Care Wellness Packages offer a more affordable way to accomplish this. Our Wellness Packages help you schedule and pay for the necessary veterinary care in advance at a considerable savings over individual treatment costs.

We offer a variety of Wellness Packages for puppies, kittens, adult dogs, and adult cats. There are even plans tailored to the needs of older pets. Dr. Hicks and our Veterinary Staff can help you select a plan that fits your pet's specific needs.

Wellness Packages for Puppies and Kittens

Puppies and Kittens are usually adopted around 8 weeks of age. Examination, vaccination, worming, and parasite control should begin at that time. Visits should be at 3 week intervals until the age of 4 months. The last 2 visits must be no more than 3-4 weeks apart. If vaccinations are begun for a pet older than 4 months, 3 week boosters are still needed.

Each puppy and kitten plan visit includes a complete physical examination by the doctor. Fecal examinations are performed at regular intervals to detect intestinal parasites. Vaccinations are administered on schedule. At the first visit, every young patient receives a free initial dose of heartworm and flea preventative, as well as a free bag of Royal Canin® puppy or kitten food.

Puppy Wellness Packages

The basic puppy package includes important baseline vaccinations - including Distemper and Rabies - which are required for all dogs. Bordetella (or kennel cough) is a serious contagious disease which is epidemic in this community. Any dog in contact with other dogs is at risk for this infection; immunization is required for any hospital or lodging stay. Lyme disease is transmitted by ticks - dogs who visit wooded areas are at increased risk. Basic and Standard packages are completed around 4 months of age, while the Optimum package lasts a full year, continuing after the initial series to include full-service spays or neuters. Kitten Wellness Packages

Basic kitten packages are indicated for indoor only felines. The Standard and Optimum packages include blood testing for Heartworm, Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS viruses, as well as leukemia vaccinations, which are recommended for both indoor and outdoor cats. Adult Dog Wellness Packages

Houses with private yards or apartment complexes, walks in secluded neighborhoods or visits to dog parks, use of kennels or out-of-town travel, and the presence of other household pets all play a role in your dog's health maintenance needs. In addition, human health concerns must be considered, especially relating to exposure to children. The age and breed of a dog is also very important in evaluating protocols to provide high quality care.
